I chose "Preserve"  first, when that didn't work, I went through the process again and chose "Delete" That ended up with the same message. If it's a partition, you first select the drive and then you will need to select the partition. i can re-format my other hard drives and i have only formated one sata hd with a ide/sata converter my system takes ide hard drive but i also have used formated I have clicked Local Disk > from image or Local Disk > from image. As for the alignment issue, I don't think that even matters unless you are restoring an image onto a new drive.   I was using it for a windows 7 system before

What is the drive letter of that sata drive?

The ghost program appeared to be working until it got about 95% completed, and then it came up with a file name? (546) message saying "Output error file to the following I don't have a Ghost 9 CD, but I do have the Recovery CD that came with System Works 2005 that included Ghost 9.
